This weekend-long event brings together a group of talented poets, musicians, and storytellers who are dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the American West. This year marks the 3rd annual Salado Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering, and organizers are determined to make it the best yet. By showcasing the true "working cowboy" culture and heritage, the event promises to transport attendees back in time to a world where hard work, bravery, and a deep connection to the land were essential for survival.
From May 5th to 7th, you and your family can experience the true working cowboy culture and heritage in a fun and engaging way. Listen to cowboys and cowgirls perform their original poems and songs, all inspired by their experiences in the rugged and beautiful American West.
On Friday night, head on over to Barrow Brewing to meet all of the performers and enjoy a good old-fashioned music jam. On Saturday morning, stroll through the farmers' market at Barrow Brewing while enjoying free entertainment by various performers.
Throughout the day, there are free performances around the village at various locations such as the Shops on Main and the Salado Public Library. Don't miss out on "Cowgirls in Cahoots" with Kristyn Harris, Valerie Beard, and Teresa Burleson at the Shops on Main.
As the day goes on, the Salado Museum opens for performers' merchandise sales and early seating. And in the afternoon, catch the matinee concert at the Salado Museum with performances by Don Cadden, Kristyn Harris, Floyd and Valerie, Straw Berry and Washtub Jerry, and Cal Farley Boy's Ranch, Teresa Burleson. The youth poetry contest winner will also be announced during the matinee concert.
Later that evening, enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner at Heritage Country Church followed by a concert with Doug Figgs, Jeff Gore, Jim Jones, Terry Nash, and Washtub Jerry. On Sunday morning, grab a cup of coffee and some doughnuts at the Heritage Country Church and attend the worship service with Jeff Gore's inspiring message.
