Hey friends! I'm excited to share my recent experience at Melody's Brunch & Bar in downtown Temple. So, here's the backstory: the night before, I had to fast for my bloodwork, and let me tell you, I was famished by the time it was over. I wasn't just in the mood for grabbing some fast food, I wanted to make this hunger worth it by treating myself to a delicious meal, (any excuse right? ), That's when I remembered that Melody's had just opened up in the area, so without hesitation, I made a reservation and headed over there with my kids.
Let me just say, I fell in love with the aesthetic of the place as soon as I walked in the door. Almost every table was full, and every customer was dressed the part. (No, seriously if you were at Melody’s yesterday you all were dressed so cute )! I felt like Adam Sandler in oversized windbreaker pants, oversized shirt, and baseball cap).
I almost turned around, feeling underdressed, but I was committed to a good meal.
As someone who's originally from Los Angeles, I'm used to feeling like I'm constantly being judged on my appearance however since being here in Bell County, it's a completely different story! I've been living in this area for two years now, and I love that I can walk around freely without feeling self-conscious! So, when I walked into Melody's Brunch & Bar, and seen I was under dressed there’s no surprise when I didn’t feel any judging eyes and felt so comfortable that I didn't have to worry about what I was wearing. I felt so comfortable that I was able to fully enjoy my meal without any distracting self-conscious thoughts.
Now let's get to the good stuff: the food and drinks! Melody's has an extensive menu of reasonably priced drinks. I started with the hot lavender latte, which was delicious, so delicious that I had to try the iced lavender latte and YUP just as good! My daughter (7) got the peach sunrise mocktail, which was also a hit. My son (6) went for the classic chocolate milk. For our meal, we started with the street corn dip appetizer, which was so yummy. Then, I had the chicken and waffles, which were honestly some of the best I've ever had. And let me tell you, I'm from LA, where Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles reigns supreme. The boneless chicken was incredibly flavorful and tender, and I can't recommend it enough! The kids had the Kids' waffles and Kids' French toast, the portions for the kids were elegantly served, and I loved that they didn't just throw a frozen waffle or French toast on the plate.
The kids said they wanted to come “EVERYDAY”, where in exchange I said; “This is what brunch is!! Good drinks, good food, good atmosphere, and most importantly good company! I would do this everyday, if I could too!
As a homeschooling mom, I used this as an opportunity to test my kids' table side manners, and even had a little business meeting with them to officially hire them. It was my kids' first "business meeting" over brunch, and we enjoyed every minute of it, it was truly a great way to make brunch a learning experience and to not feel guilty about brunching mid-day on a Thursday with school age kids.
Overall, my experience at Melody's Brunch & Bar was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was perfect, and the food, drinks, and service were all top-notch. Whether you're looking for a fancy brunch spot or just a casual hangout, Melody's has got you covered. Honestly, it was exactly what Temple has been missing. I'm already looking forward to going back and exploring the menu more and trying out some new drinks. I highly recommend checking out Melody's Brunch & Bar and making a reservation ahead of time to secure your spot! Click here for a quick video of our drinks & food!
