Here's a guide to the must-visit spots and activities for an unforgettable family adventure.

Mill Pond Park: A Riverside Oasis

Kickstart your day trip with a visit to Mill Pond Park. This serene park is a haven for families, featuring lush green spaces, towering pecan trees, and beautiful water features.

As you explore the park, be sure to check out the historic water mill that stands as a testament to the town's rich history. The soothing sound of the waterfall cascading nearby adds to the park's tranquil ambiance.

It's probably too cold now, but in the summer families will love the swimming beach at the pond, where ducks and turtles often join in on the fun. It's a fantastic spot for kids to dip their toes in the water, observe wildlife, and feed the ducks.

At Christmas, they have the cutest light show to enjoy!

San Saba River Nature Park: A Birdwatcher's Paradise

Just a short drive away, San Saba River Nature Park awaits with its fascinating wildlife and natural beauty. The park features walking trails that wind through diverse ecosystems, providing an excellent opportunity for a family hike. What makes this park truly unique is the bird blind, a screened shelter where you can quietly observe a wide variety of bird species. It's an excellent way to introduce kids to birdwatching.

Oliver and Company: A Culinary Delight

After all that adventure, it's time to refuel, and there's no better place than Oliver and Co. This delightful café offers a menu that combines classic comfort food with a touch of gourmet flair. From fluffy pancakes to mouthwatering sandwiches, there's something for every palate. Kids will adore their special menu designed just for them.

Don't forget to try their famous pecan pie, a slice of heaven that showcases the town's pecan heritage. Plus, Oliver and Co.'s friendly atmosphere and charming décor make it a wonderful place for families to relax and enjoy a meal together.

Pecan Orchards: A Seasonal Delight

Since you're visiting during pecan season, make sure to explore some of San Saba's renowned pecan orchards. Many of them offer guided tours where you can learn about the pecan harvesting process and even pick your own pecans. It's a fun and educational experience for kids and adults alike.
