Happy Thanksgiving from our Macaroni KID Killeen family to your family!
I am the romanticizing type, so I love pretty much every aspect of every holiday. Turning on the Macy's parade while we drink coffee, clean the house, and prep for the day, football on the TV while we cook, and Christmas music on while we eat. Thanksgiving is a fun, gratitude-filled holiday whether you celebrate with a big elaborate meal and tons of people or a simple meal with just your family.
Some families practice gratitude through thankful turkeys or thoughtful discussion at dinner. We've done both, but last year I got a roll of brown paper from the store and taped it up. Nate wrote everything and everyone he was grateful for and we've actually had it hung up since. I love looking at it any time I come into the living room and it's a good reminder for me to practice gratitude every day.
It's important to me to explore the history behind holidays, so we understand why we do the fun things we do. Even though the real history behind Thanksgiving isn't fun at all, we still read about it and discuss it. It's a great opportunity to talk about greed and gratitude.
Hopefully however you choose to celebrate is full of food, friends, and fun!
