If you follow MacKID Killeen on social, you know that I recently returned from an amazing trip to a wonderful all-inclusive resort. We all know the main reasons to go to an all-inclusive resort are the food and the fun activities.
The author's stay and excursion at Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts Riviera Maya were complimentary for the purposes of this review, but the opinions are her own.
Well, Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts Riviera Maya has both of those in spades! Every meal is PACKED full of delicious details around every corner and every member of Team Nick eats, sleeps, and breathes fun!
Delicious Bites
On our first night, we enjoyed a welcome dinner at Piazza. Piazza does require a reservation, but the pizza alone is more than worth the extra effort. We also had beef carpaccio, caprese salad, parmesan chicken, and fish.
The Pajama Jam Character Breakfast at Nick Bistro was an exciting way to start day 2! Team Nick puts on a show like no other while you indulge in multiple courses of yummy food. They go table by table so everyone gets pictures with their favorite characters and there's always music and dancing happening so there's no boring wait between courses. We started with fruit and yogurt, followed by the perfect lobster omelet with veggies and French toast with waffles.
Bikini Bottom is where we had lunch on day 2. It's in the hotel, so super convenient if you're wanting to stay close to the rooms/beach. We started with chips and salsa followed by Caribbean style shrimp cocktail and ribs with sweet potato and corn or grilled octopus with plantains and salad. I went back here on our last day to try the fish and chips and they're also very good!
Yacht Club is FULL of gorgeous food displays and features different cuisines throughout the week. We went during Latino night and it was a fantastic gastronomic experience. We started with chips and ceviche and piled our plates high with anything and everything.
Le Spatula is THE place to be for breakfast. Again, full of beautiful food displays and made to order stations. The real showstoppers were the donut wall, watermelon shark, and crepe station. They also have SpongeBob playing on TVs by your table, which is so fun.
For our farewell meal, we had GREAT burgers at Good Burger! We also had hot and crispy fried onion rings, and lobster mac and cheese! The ice cream bar was obviously a crowd favorite and there were so many cute photo ops throughout the restaurant.
Vibrant Entertainment
Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts Riviera Maya knows how to throw a party! They have nightly entertainment suitable for all ages. We got to enjoy something fun every day of our stay.
Slime Time Live! is a game show right on the stage! Team Nick chooses families from the audience to participate in super silly challenges and compete for the chance to get slimed. The families raced to put on giant underpants, bob for marshmallows in bowls of slime, pass water balloons from the audience to mama chickens to pop, and throw balloons up for giant babies to catch. The losing team got pied in the face and the winning team had the honor of being slimed by the giant orange Nick blimp!
TRIBE is a beautiful acrobatic show about a kid who becomes a great Mayan warrior. It's full of fun surprises and amazingly athletic feats. The strength and grace of these performers is astounding and it's a show the whole family will be amazed by.
The Orange Carpet Experience is a thrilling dance party where you can jam with your favorite characters! They have an awesome DJ and booths where you can get glow in the dark face paint so you can live your best vacation life!
Some of my fellow publishers posted super fun clips of these shows, so go check out #mackidatnickRM on Instagram to see the best of the best!
Splash Around at Aqua Nick
Aqua Nick is Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts Riviera Maya's 6 acre water park! It has 21 water slides, a lazy river, adventure river, an activity pool with fun obstacles, and fun poolside shows and activities! We spent a full day relaxing in the cabanas, trying all of the slides and ranking them based on thrill level, floating the adventure river, and completing a fun family scavenger hunt activity. We also took turns living out our 90's kid dreams and getting slimed!
Tips for your trip:
- If your kiddo is noise sensitive, bring headphones for the shows or just skip them and do something more low-key in the evenings like a Cake and Ice Cream Kids Pedicure in the spa or some extra pool time!
- Download the Karisma App to see the full list of shows, activities, restaurant menus, and more throughout your stay.
- As with any foreign all-inclusive, bring cash to tip the extremely hard working staff that helps make your stay amazing.
- COVID is still around and while masks aren't required most places, they are required while you get food in Yacht Club and Le Spatula. If you forget yours, no worries, they have extras at the host stands.
