10 Things to Do this Week in Killeen, Belton, and Temple

Here are Macaroni KID Killeen's picks for the top things to do in the Bell County area with kids January 22-January 28, 2024.  Click on the links and pictures for all the details!

1. Full Moon Hike(Harker Heights)

Celebrate the January full Wolf Moon with Harker Heights Parks and Rec!

The hike will be about 1 mile round trip.

The group will stop at the lake to look at the night sky through telescopes.

Bring a flashlight/headlamp, athletic shoes, comfy clothes, and water.

Terrain: Rocky trail with a hill, gradual to steep incline Thurs 6:30PM-8:45PM

2. Day of Play(Killeen)

In collaboration with ACES, Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom will host Day of Play, welcoming families of children with autism and community members. ACES is an organization that promotes autism therapy for children, a practice which can lead to significant progress in their functionality and independence.

Rotation 1 - Farm Animals & Sensory Barn, Low Ropes and KaBoom Playground

Rotation 2 - Arts & Crafts, Archery and Moment to Own It 

Rotation 3 - Theater & Arcade, Putt Putt and Disc Golf Sat 9AM-1PM

3. Mom Walk Collective Temple Walk(Belton)

The Mom Walk Co Temple hosts two walks a month around the city of Temple! Meet local moms and build community. Sat @ 9:30AM

4. 2024 Day for Women(Temple)

Fashion Show, Shopping, Luncheon, Prizes, Giveaways, Demonstrations, Much more

During the luncheon catered by La Luncheonette and Nothing Bundt Cakes, you will hear from women from diverse backgrounds:

  • Dr. Zoë Grant, Temple City Council, founder of Zoë's Wings Foundation and recent NAACP Temple Branch President
  • Paula Kay Hubbard, Chief of Human Resources for the Mclane Company
  • Tresa McNeal, Executive Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations with Baylor Scott & White Health - Temple
  • Brynn Myers, City Manager of Temple
  • Christine Parks, Chief of Communications and Community Relations with Temple ISD

5. International LEGO Day (Killeen)

Fun challenges, a LEGO display, and piles of LEGO bricks for your own freestyle creations. Sat 10AM-4PM

6. Mutton Bustin' Sign Ups(Belton) 

Sign your kiddos up to ride the sheep during the February PRCA Rodeo.

Children ages 5-7 may enter, no more than 55 lbs.

The participant will receive two general admission tickets (one parent, one child). Sat 11AM-1PM

7. Building Up The Past: Postcard Art and Architecture (Belton)

Join the Bell County Museum to view the newest exhibit of Bell County postcards. 

Learn more about architecture and engineering with fun activities and maker challenges. Sat 11AM-1PM

8. Intro to Pickleball (Salado)

Pickleball is taking over! Free introduction to pickleball at Barrow. 

USSP Ambassador and IFP Certified Instructor George Olivencia III and other pickleball pros will be there to teach you! 

Courts, equipment, and craft beer will all be on hand. Bring a friend or make a friend when you get there. Sat @ 1PM

9. The Force in Concert: Celebrating the Music of Star Wars (Belton) 

This concert will feature the music from all three Star Wars Trilogies and Rogue One. ⁣Sat @ 7:30PM

10. Let's Get Cooking with Princess Tiana (Killeen)

💚 Get to know your favorite princess!

💚 Enjoy an awesome cooking class!

💚 Experience an exquisite manicure

💚 Refresh with a rejuvinating face mask

💚 Indulge with fancy juice and snacks
